Meet Fern & Nettle Doula

A serene landscape featuring a sunset over a calm lake, surrounded by lush trees and mountains.

My name is Weronika Walker, I'm your nature-loving, coffee-drinking doula, based on the Sunshine Coast, BC. My passion for all things birth related started over 15 years ago, when I first witnessed a cesarean section as a paramedic in training. I still remember the feeling of amazement and respect for the birthing person that I felt that day.

Since then I earned a Master's Degree in Public Health and, in 2018, I decided to certify as a doula to expand my skills and knowledge. Fun fact: Polish is my first language and I'm happy to use it while working with other Polish- speakers!

A beautiful sunset over a calm lake, reflecting vibrant orange and purple hues in the sky.

Before becoming a doula, I've had many, seemingly unrelated jobs: a paramedic, a wildfire firefighter, an outdoor guide, a cook. All of them included caring for others, either directly or indirectly, and all of them were a version of community care (either through providing healthcare, caring for the environment or creating opportunities for learning, joy and rest). Doula work combines many of the elements from my previous positions, but in a setting that is way more personal and intimate. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum (and loss) are easier when done supported - and I get to be a part of that support!

When I am not working with clients as a doula or in nature guiding trips or adventuring with my husband, I spend time painting watercolours or reading. My kitchen often smells like sourdough bread and my clients can expect edible gifts and handmade herbal goodies!

A serene landscape featuring mountains, a clear blue sky, and a tranquil lake reflecting the scenery.

If you are looking for a doula who is passionate about reproductive health and who believes that everyone deserves good care during pregnancy, birth and postpartum, I will be a good fit for you. I want you to have the best possible experience in your journey to become a parent, no matter what that looks like.
