Meet Fern & Nettle Doula

My name is Weronika Walker, I'm your nature-loving, coffee-drinking doula, based in the Waterloo Region. My passion for all things birth related started over a decade ago, when I first witnessed a cesarean section as a paramedic in training. I still remember the feeling of amazement and respect for the birthing person that I felt that day.

Since then I earned a Master's Degree in Public Health and, in 2018, I decided to certify as a doula to expand my skills and knowledge. Fun fact: Polish is my first language and I'm happy to use it while working with other Polish- speakers!

I moved to Cambridge, ON at the end of 2023, after 6 years of living in British Columbia. Five of those years I worked as a wildfire firefighter and a fire medic! In 2023 I also joined the leadership team of the non-profit Girl In The Wild, working with youth at confidence building camps held in the BC's backcountry.

After many adventures in the wild places, my husband and I are back in Ontario, ready to put down roots and excited to be closer to family.

When I am not working with clients as a doula or in nature foraging for plants (both for food and medicine), I spend time painting watercolours or reading. My kitchen often smells like sourdough bread and my clients can expect delicious edible gifts!

If you are looking for a doula who is passionate about reproductive health and who believes that everyone deserves good care during pregnancy, birth and postpartum, I will be a good fit for you. I want you to have the best possible experience in your journey to become a parent, no matter what that looks like.
